Riot Scene You’re So Last Summer Kickoff Party

June 16, 2019 Concert Reviews, Live Music, Riot Scene Events

The first annual (You’re So Last) Summer Kick-off party at Legacy Brewing in Oceanside was a huge success and such a great time! Starting around 3pm with Fast Times at Ridgemont high – a summer classic – featured on the big screen, we had a huge group ready to start a riot. We brought out squirt guns, bubble guns, leis, sunglasses beach balls – even Deathboys Jake and Dizzy were getting down on some Super Nintendo Mario Cart while the movie was rocking. Around 5pm we fired up the first ever Scene Kid Karaoke, letting everyone belt out their favorite emo songs under the spotlight. The response was so awesome from the karaoke session that we had to push the opening act about 30 minutes back to keep everyone happy!

Deathboys opened up the show, immediately owning their recent growth in the scene with most of the crowd actually singing their songs along with them. Followed by energetic hometown heroes Nights Like Thieves, everyone took to their feet and couldn’t help but move to lead guitar and singer Mario’s punchy, memorable performance. Coming all the way from Las Vegas, Sleep Eater stole the show with some of the freshest post-hardcore / punk that is absolutely worth following! These guys have an awesome future in front of them and we can’t wait to watch! Closing out the night, Mainsail had another stellar performance, singer Nick had a great moment bringing up a young guitar student to jam his favorite Mainsail songs with the band. Mike’s larger than life presence shined through the speakers as they got their hometown crowd rocking out begging for more!

Overall it was a fantastic time, huge thank you to everyone that made it out and made it such a memorable night – see you next year!
